DMWC Art Exhibition “Connection”
September 6 @ 7:00 pm - September 12 @ 10:00 pm UTC+2
The joint exhibition of Resat Ameti and Zaneta Gelevska – Veljanoska, according to their basic principles, has communication, friendship, understanding, and a love for art.
Zaneta and Reshat are artists who belong to the same generation, having graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje. The life of each of them is different; Zaneta, born in Macedonia, lives in England, for where she has worked for almost twenty years, while Reshat is based in Macedonia. Their different lifestyles and creative roads have formed diverse conditions for ideas, approaches to works and artistic solutions. The 20th and 21st centuries have marked the development of artistic integration and cross-cultural movements. Without boundaries, artists discover new means of communication and they establish novel and meaningful relationships with colleagues.
The artist-artist concept is not new, but in this case, artists directly use interactive dialogue to raise a number of questions: Is art production today related to geopolitical movements? How does the artistic work done here in Macedonia differ to the art work done in “developed” countries? Where does the artistic influence come from?
However, art is something more, something that is avant-garde and beyond daily politics – artists have no borders and they are without boundaries.
This exhibition carries within itself a line of differences, but also similarities in the authors’ thought in maintaining the character of their art, with respect of the phenomenon of art movements: no matter where they originate from or where they have formed their creation, the principle of “art for art” persists, and this is the basic principle for long-term friendship without borders.
